What catches my eye most are Poirot's expressions in each photo. In the first, he's wide-eyed and curious. In the second, he's got his eyes closed with that "happy cat" look on his face. The contrast between his expressions is very pleasing to the eye.
Another aspect of the photos that stands out of me is the perspective. *Aconitum-Napellus shot both photos from almost the same exact position. It's barely noticeable, which I really like.
Unfortunately, cats and boxes are a common, recurring theme, and there isn't much in the way of originality. Even so, Poirot's expressions make the shot.
