Artist's Comments

I popped to see the bluebells in driving rain, and Hilly graced me with her presence :D

Without animals grazing, the Gorse Field is returning to a kind of cleared-woodland state - tumults of gorse with its yellow, coconut scented flowers, stitchwort, bluebells, wood anenomes, birch and oak coming out in translucent new leaves.

The light level was a bit low, but never mind...
I don't seem to be able to get it any size without it disappearing on the full view option. Grrrrr.

Expect to be sick of Hilly/Bluebell photos before long.

Critiques

:iconxaliandrea:
What I love about this piece is the technical precision and use of color. The focus is perfect and the depth of field really makes the subject pop. I love how crisp each whisker is and the detail in the eyes is nice (yet not overwhelming).

I'm not sure how I feel about the centered crop-- with the cat's attention focused to the left, leaving more space in that direction might have helped the piece to flow even more. I do like how the flowers frame the other side of her face, though.

The colors are beautiful, the green-gold-blue pallet really appealing, but I found I lost the cat's eyes among the brighter, more attention-grabbing shades of the bluebells and the light in the background. Some light photoshopping might have been justified to make the eyes really snap, but it's a small complaint.

All in all the piece is really nice. I liked it a lot.
